Project: IEEE P802.15 Working Group for Wireless Personal Area Networks (WPANs) Submission Title:[Required Log Items] Date Submitted: [1 Sept 2008] Source: [Ryoji Ono] Company [Mitsubishi Electric Corp.] [Hirohito Nishiyama] Company [Mitsubishi Electric Corp.] [Tatsuji Munaka] Company [Mitsubishi Electric Corp.] Address [5-1-1 Ofuna, Kamakura, Kanagawa, Japan] Voice:[+81-467-41-2122] E-Mail: [{Ono.Ryoji@aj,Nishiyama.Hirohito@ah,Munaka.Tatsuji@ct }.MitsubishiElectric.co.jp] Re: [IEEE 802.15.4e group] Abstract: Fault analysis is one of the key features for the network used in manufacturing systems. Event logs and statistics are the minimum requirements to achieve this goal. In this proposal, we also show the example of required log items. Purpose: To propose enhancements for IEEE802.15.4 MAC protocol. Notice: This document has been prepared to assist the IEEE P802.15. It is offered as a basis for discussion and is not binding on the contributing individual(s) or organization(s). 3. Contents • Motivation and Goals • Log Item Examples Ryoji Ono, Hirohito Nishiyama, Tatsuji Munaka

  4. Motivation and Goals • Fault analysis is one of the key features for the network used in manufacturing systems. • Event logs and statistics are the minimum requirements. • At least we need to define the essential log items and also the way to access them to enable the minimum set of fault analysis. • IEEE802.11 or IEEE802.11k MIB can be referred. Ryoji Ono, Hirohito Nishiyama, Tatsuji Munaka

  5. Log Item Examples • Transmission/reception • Number of transmitted frames • Number of received frames • Number of CRC errors • Number of ACK timeout (if applicable) • Number of successful retries (if applicable) • Number of retry-out • Beacon frame • Number of received beacons • Number of reception failures of beacon frame • Signal quality (RSSI, SNR) • for each station Ryoji Ono, Hirohito Nishiyama, Tatsuji Munaka

  6. Thanks! Ryoji Ono, Hirohito Nishiyama, Tatsuji Munaka
