  1. Types of Inks USED In printing press

  2. While it might seem that the first printing inks were created by Gutenberg, in fact, they date back far before then. Whenever a civilization wanted to write records, people combined some sort of colorant with some kind of resin or drier to create ink. Printing is an intricate process that involves many steps. There are many types of printing presses, all of which have their own advantages and markets. Today, there are many types of inks as well to make your papers look great! Offset (Paste) Inks Offset inks have been around for a long time, originally used for commercial printing. They are oil-based and are dried after printing. The three main types of offset inks are sheetfed, heatset and coldset inks. Recently there has been an increasing emphasis on using renewable resources such as soy-based products.

  3. Liquid Inks for Packaging Liquid inks are currently the predominant print technology used on packaging products, with flexo ink the leading process. Flexo and gravure presses are roll-to-roll printers that make use of water-based, solvent-based and UV-based technologies depending on the substrate, surface finish desired and cost. Digital Inks Digital printing has expanded into new markets, including textiles and folding cartons. Also known as digital textile printing, it uses digital technology to print directly onto fabrics or leathers with a wide range of ink colorants. The technology allows for printing of detailed high-resolution graphics and fine lines.

  4. Energy-Curable Inks Energy-curable UV inks are making inroads into industries beyond printing and packaging. Here, we look at how this growing technology is being used today and the many potential applications for which it may serve as a solution of the future. Conductive Inks Conductive inks have become a popular niche market for ink suppliers. Traditional photovoltaics and sensors are the biggest markets for conductive inks, as the backplane is screen printed. As more companies consider embedding electronics in textiles, paints and adhesives, this market will continue to grow. Looking to buy printing press or press parts?
