  1. What are the Different Types of Printing There are many different ways to produce marketing materials. It is important to know what an option is and how it might be used effectively for your business. The world of print production is not one that many of us are familiar with, so we’ve put together this guide to help you understand the basics of digital printing, screen printing and laser printing methods. The 3 Main Types of Professional Printing

  2. 1.Offset printing process Offset printing is the most common and economical printing method available. Offset works by transferring the image (your artwork) to metal plates, then those plates are inked and pressed against the paper to produce a print. Because of the time and costs required for set up, plates and ink before anything is actually printed, offset isn’t cost effective for smaller amounts and is usually only used when very large volumes are required. 2.Digital printing process Digital printing is the fastest, most cost-effective way to print anything from wedding invitations, name badges and custom business cards to colour catalogues and brochures. Digital presses use powdered toner instead of traditional inks and with the digital printing process, your artwork goes straight from your PDF to print. Early digital presses couldn’t compete with the quality produced by full-colour printing. However, huge technological advances in the last couple of decades have resulted in digital print that’s impossible to tell apart from litho. Because there’s no setup cost or minimum quantity, digital printing is also perfect for smaller amounts (whether it’s nine or 900) and when you need customised or personalised marketing.

  3. 3.Screen printing process Screen printing is an inexpensive, versatile method for printing on a variety of items. The image is transferred to a fine mesh and areas to be left blank are covered with a substrate. The printing process involves pushing ink through the openings in the mesh onto the end material using various types of squeegees. What is high volume print? Most printers won’t tell you when you quote a price for a print run that the cost per item actually goes down with volume – youhave to work it out for yourself. But it’s true: for example a 10,000 run will be about 10% cheaper than if you printed 1000 items. The trick is getting your quantities exactly right and it may take some experimenting to get it just right.
