  2. Objective • Students will become familiar with the various types of reference sources. Students will be able to apply skills in various situations

  3. ATLAS • A collection of maps often including illustrations, informative tables, or textual matter

  4. ENCYCLOPEDIA • A book or on-line resource that contains information on all branches of knowledge usually in articles arranged alphabetically often by subject

  5. ALMANAC • An annual publication that contains astronomical and meteorological data for a given year and often including a variety of other information

  6. PERIODICALS • Publications that are issued at regular intervals. • Here are some examples • Magazines • Scholarly Journals • Newsletters • Newspapers

  7. Index • An alphabetized list of names, places, and subjects contained in a printed work, giving the page on which each item is mentioned or found.

  8. Activity • Students will complete the activities located at this station on: • Indexes • Encyclopedias • Periodicals
