The Effect of CondensateBanking on Production FracTech Work Shop June 2003
Condensate Banking (From a fracturing point of view) • For some time the fracturing industry has realized that condensate has an adverse effects on well productivity • In some cases, fracturing was applied to overcome condensate banking around the well, with some success • However, either with un-fractured wells, or with fractured wells condensate banking is seldom modelled or considered in frac design

K=10 mD, 16/20 3 Lb/ft2 Cumulative Rate
K=10 mD, 20/40 1 Lb/ft2 Cumulative Rate
Conclusions • Condensate banking can now be modelled • Condensate banking necessitates fracture design with TSO and large proppants • Condensate banking will have an effect on proppant flow back due to multi-phase effects
