Legal Aspects of Electronic Business (5 ECTS) • Teacher: Mika Kärkkäinen • The legal problems of the electronic commerce: • 1) Electronic contracts in consumer trade and in business-to-business trade, • 2) questions regarding the immaterial law, • protection of the intellectual property rights of • digital products and trademarks, • brands, • commercial names and • domain names, • 3) the protection of the consumer rights, • 4) the protection of personal data, • 5) liabilities, • 6) the taxation of the electronic commerce, • 7) the rules on the choice of applicable law.
Course consists of : • Material provided by the teacher (”virtual lectures”) • Material available in the internet • Studying methods: • Discussion • Active participation in the discussion about the topics of the course + the material • Minimum 2 analytical comments / student • Questionaire (10 questions covering different aspects of the course) • Written answers ( 1 page / question) on the questions provided by the teacher • Essays • 2 Written essays (5 – 10 pages each) about the key issues of the course • Essays are based on the literature given in the course + literature searched by the student
The course is planned in cooperation with Finnish Virtual University as a part of a TIEVIE-program • National Training Program for Virtual Teaching
