Lui et Leur. Lui ou Leur?. Lui = to him/her or for him/her It replaces one person. Leur= to them or for them. It replaces more than one person. We use them once again to avoid repetition when speaking so we do not have to keep repeating a person's name or to whom we are referring.

  2. Lui ou Leur? Lui = to him/her or for him/her It replaces one person. Leur= to them or for them. It replaces more than one person. We use them once again to avoid repetition when speaking so we do not have to keep repeating a person's name or to whom we are referring.

  3. P.77 Activity 29 Step 1. Read what the description so you know what the person(s) would like as a gift. Step 2. Choose a an expression from the orange box to start your advice. Choose lui for one person and leur for more than one person. Step 3. Choose a logical gift from the blue box based upon the description from step 1. Step 4. Write a statement giving your advice. Example: Iman et Sylvie sont toujours À la dernière mode. Tu pourrais leur offrir des boucles d'oreilles.

  4. Pourquoi lui? Lui = to him/to her OR for him/for her It is used to replace a phrase that begins with à or pour. The pronoun (lui) goes in front of the verb. Je parle à Marc. Je lui parle. Je donne un vase à ma soeur. Je luidonne un vase. Elle offre des fleurs à son amie. Elle lui offre des fleurs.

  8. Avec deux verbes With two verbs you put the pronoun lui or leur between the two verbs. Je vais offrir un cadeau à mes parents. Je vais leur offrir un cadeau. Je vais donner des bonbons à ma fille. Je vais lui donner des bonbons.

  9. Negative ne + first verb + pas + lui / leur + second verb Je ne vais pas leur offrir un cadeau. Je ne vais pas lui donner de bonbons.

  11. Commands With a command the order is verb-pronoun. Donne le cadre à Anne. Donne-lui le cadre. Offrez des bonbons à tes copains. Offrez-leur des bonbons. Achète un foulard pour maman. Achète-lui un foulard.

  12. Negative The negative for commands is the same as it would be for a regular sentence. Ne + lui/leur + verb + pas Ne lui donne pas le stylo. Ne leur offrez pas de bonbons.
