  3. Steps • Step 1. Set up your camera on a tripod in complete darknessStep 2. Try a 30-sec exposure at ISO 200, f/8Step 3. Use a flashlight to reveal your subject with creative light strokes

  4. Tips for light painting • Don’t try to paint everything with the same light.  It will look really odd and flat. • Choose a dimmable flashlight with an adjustable beam for best results. • Be careful with noise. • You’ll need to take more than one photo • Choose a flashlight that doesn’t have a hot spot. • Remember to use mirror lockup, long exposure noise reduction, a cable release •  It’s okay to focus each picture on the specific area you’re working on.
