Instant Data Warehouse 2.1 Now Available! • We have added a utility to be able to correct and reformat incorrectly formatted data. This makes it possible to load practically any data using the IDW Utilities. • We have added support for MySQL 5.x. You can put your staging area or even the data warehouse onto MySQL to save database licensing costs. With IDW + MySQL we enable the lowest possible EDW development cost. • We have added a suite of Administration Reports so that you can publish via the web any of the parameters stored in the SeETL spreadsheet. You can also see the state of the batch processing that is occurring via the reporting suite. • With experience gained in using IDW to build our first very large data warehouse on AIX/Oracle we have improved the Scheduler and audit functions to enable restart of partially failed batches and start/stop times on the audit trail. We are very pleased and excited about IDW 2.1. With SeETL enabling push button ETL and IDW enabling endless scalability IDW 2.1 has matured nicely to provide great productivity benefits to even the largest client. No other ETL product comes close to IDW in terms of cost benefit. We are pleased to have delivered the ‘next breakthrough’ in making Instant Business Intelligence available to all companies. But we are not resting. We are hard at work. By the end of the year we hope to release a new product that revolutionises the ‘front end’ as thoroughly as IDW revolutionises the ‘back end’! Watch this space!! Best Regards The Instant Business Intelligence Team • 5/9/2005 – Instant Data Warehouse 2.1 now available. • Today we are very pleased to announce the general availability of Instant Data Warehouse 2.1. • This release has been eight months in coming and we have added lots and lots of new features to it. These features are covered in detail in the User Guide and Appendices. • The highlights are: • SeETL. The ability to generate all IDW jobs from within the SeETL spreadsheet. SeETL totally revolutionises the way that ETL can be defined and implemented on Enterprise Business Intelligence Projects. SeETL does no less than make the job of writing ETL jobs redundant!!SeETL is easily the biggest breakthrough in ETL development productivity since the current version of IDW was released 2 years ago.SeETL includes the ability to load all mappings and IDW control tables directly into the IDW so manual editing of tables has been eliminated.SeETL publishes all control data, including mappings, to the IDW and a suite of reports are provided to publish mappings to a web page. • Endless Scalability on Solaris/AIX platforms. We have implemented and tested dimension table processing up to 10M customers on AIX Oracle. We have implemented and tested sharing lookup tables through memory mapped IO up to 1.7GB of dimension table lookup data. We have seen excellent performance and throughput using memory mapped io. Initial testing has shown that transactions can be processed at a rate of approximately 625K/processor/hour. This gives a throughput of approximately 40M transactions for an 8CPU machine in 8 hours. • We have cut by half the time taken to load dimension tables into memory mapped files on the windows platform.
