PROCESS • How to book a Matua • All WDHB Mental Health and Addictions Services are able to use our Matua Advisory Council (however, for those outside of WDHB such as ADHB, PHO, NGO’s we will invoice accordingly). • Bookings will be made via contacting Josilina Silimaka on Ph: (09) 822 8754, Fax: (09) 822 8755 or email: josilina.silimaka@waitematadhb.govt.nz • We will confirm the Matua availability within 2 days of the request • The Matua is only available during working hours (exemptions made on case by case) • WDHB will have a Matua available from Tonga, Samoa, Fiji, Cook Islands, Niue and Tuvalu • Whom are able to provide cultural advise and support, include: • Participation at family or other client related meetings • when there are complex cultural issues requiring Matua • Support • Attendance at management meetings/ planning meetings • as needed • Provision of Pacific ceremonial protocols • Cultural mentoring • A Matua will be supported within agreed guidelines of Matua Mental Health and Addictions framework (NDSA) • A Matua will not be booked as Interpreters • WDHB will continue to access their interpreting service as needed.
