2004 Graduation Program – 80 Credits 1. Required 48 credits: • Language Arts 10*, 11, 12* 12 credits • Social Studies/Science Humaines 10 4 credits • Social Studies/Science Humaines 11* 4 credits • Science 10* 4 credits • A Science 11 4 credits • Mathematics/Mathématiques 10* 4 credits • A Mathematics 11 4 credits • Physical Education 10 4 credits • Fine Arts or Applied Skills 10, 11 or 12 4 credits • Planning/Planification 10 4 credits 2. Graduation Transitions 4 credits ------------------------------- 3. Electives (Grade 10, 11 and 12) 28 credits TOTAL 80 credits *Provincial Exam A minimum of 16 credits must be at the Grade 12 level. This includes 4 credits for a Language Arts 12 course, but does not include the 4 credits for Graduation Transitions Students must also complete one Fine Arts or Applied Skills course in Gr 10, 11, or 12.

Passport to Education • Number of stamps based on size of school • Grade 12 stamp is valued at $500 • Canadian citizen or permanent resident • Awarded based on top 5 academic courses • Student must graduate • September following graduation student will receive a letter from Moscrop to come and pick up Passport Stamp
Provincial Scholarship Program • Canadian citizen or permanent resident • Minimum final mark of ‘B’ in English 12 • 86% or higher on three provincial examinations • Must graduate • $1000 tuition voucher mailed in August following graduation • $2500 awarded if student ranks in the top 20 scholarship students • 2008 Moscrop Graduates earned 32 Provincial Scholarships
Dogwood District Awards • Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident • Excellence in chosen non-academic field • 5 grade 11 or 12 courses in one of four focus areas: • Fine Arts • Applied Skills • Physical Activity • Second Language • Student plans to pursue study in the focus area • Priority given to students attending college career programs • $500 cash award and $500 tuition voucher mailed to student in October following graduation • 2008 Graduates-16 Dogwood Awards
Apprenticeship Scholarships • Must be registered as a Youth Apprentice with the Industry Training Authority • Must graduate • Maintenance of a C+ average in grade 12 course work • Completion of 16 credits of Ministry Authorized SSA courses (480 hours of paid workplace training) • Submission of application within three months following graduation • Must continue to work or train in the trade for 5 months post graduation
Entrance Scholarships • Two major types: • Basic • Based on marks only and calculated automatically • Major Entrance • Comprehensive Application • Must apply • Involves marks and extracurricular (community, leadership…) • Written Presentation • References • Check institution websites for: • Additional scholarships available • Financial Aid information
External Scholarships • Local, provincial, national • Individual criteria based on award • Check *websites, employer, associations • A few are sent to the school, but many are community based • * =handout available to begin your search
Internal (School-based) Scholarships • District and School Scholarships and Awards • Application Process at Moscrop • Student Profile must be completed by Oct 12/08 • Review the student bulletin and Scholarship Bulletin Board regularly • Apply by the deadline(s) • Scholarship committee meets to review applicants • Selection of best candidate to win award or compete in District for chance to win award • School-based scholarships are awarded at the School Leaving Ceremony in June 2009
Miscellaneous • Students must have a Social Insurance Number (or apply now) • Reference letters are very important • Both substance and style of application is important • Spend time completing and reviewing application (resume, essays, letters) • Inform me by email in the Spring if your child has won an award/scholarship
