Points to Consider • Vertical alignment within a programmatic level • Consistent use of academic vocabulary • Alignment across programmatic levels • Capacity of a series to meet the needs of students who can master Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II as well as students who may need the additional support through Algebra I Support and Conceptual Math (21st Century Algebra). • Formative assessment along with prescriptive instruction and intervention • Web resources – accessibility both at school and at home • Opportunity for teachers to improve their content knowledge • The amount of professional development teachers will need to effectively utilize the program, especially important if a “bundled” program is adopted

Changes in Policy 2445.41“Textbook” Adoption: Notice, Request, and Instructions to Publishers
Language has been changed to address both digital and print books • Allow for volume discounts/and standard prices • Allows for subscription price models that may be divided over multiple years • Allows for electronic teacher editions for electronic materials • Requires companies to provide the option of adopting only electronic resource beginning with 2012 adoption year (Science) • Included accessibility statements for electronic resources Publishers of primary resources are required to provide Lexile and Quantile Measures
Guidelines for Publishers during an Adoption Year: • Publishers who submit bids will be made public • Details of bids will not be made public until Multiple List approved by SBOE • Items on a companies bid may not be given away during the period of time between the call for materials and approval of Multiple List • Publishers may not include technology equipment on their bids • A “blackout period” is established during which time publishers cannot contact counties about resources on their bids during the call for materials and review process.
