  4. Two creative men built its fame A self taught architect Sir Clough William Ellis (1883-1978) An actor Patrick McGoohan (1928-2009 ) Patrick McGoohan and Clough Williams Ellis outside the Mirror Room of the Hotel Portmeirion during the filming of The Prisoner in Spring 1967.
