Main aims of the LNEA • To propagate technological and scientific development of peaceful nuclear engineering; • To initiate, expand and activitate the exchange of nuclear knowledge and experience; • To promote cooperation between national and foreign specialists of nuclear engineering; • To shape positive public opinion on peaceful nuclear energy usage. Main tasks of the LNEA • To support scientific research in nuclear technology; • To participate in the forecasting, national policymaking and preparation of regulating laws in the field of nuclear energy; • To prepare and diffuse objective, true and science-based information about the nuclear problems to the public and governmental organisations; • To participate in organising consultations, lectures, exhibitions, conferences and courses; • To develop and intensify international cooperation and experience exchange; • To improve qualification and quality of preparation and training of specialists, studying or working in the field of nuclear ; • To assist the state institutions in licensing the nuclear energy specialists, plants and supporting organisations. Main directions of activities 2003-2005 • Striving for Lithuania to remain the state using nuclear energy; • Analyzing changes and trends in the world energy, forecasting and evaluating their possible impact to Lithuanian economy; • Contemplation and evaluation of conditions and possibilities for construction of new nuclear plant in Lithuania; • Providing the objective information for Lithuanian people and international comunity about existing problems in Lithuanian energy sector, related to shutdown of INPP and growing energy demand. Main activities 2003-2005 • Hosting of foreign specialists (USA: Westinghouse, DOE, SAIC);UK: BNFL, UKAEA; Japan: Mitsubishi Co, NSRA, JAPC; France: AREVA, EDF, CEA, FRAMATOME; Germany: Siemens, IfE, STN Atlas, etc.). • Visits of Lithuanian specialists in foreign countries (Belgium- Mol; USA-DOE, NUHOMS; Hungary-PaksNPP; France-AREVA, FRAMATOME, EDF,CEA, ANDRA, COGEMA, AE). • Participation in scientific conferences and symposiums (Lithuania, USA, Croatia, France, Australia); • Participation in the activities of ENS and WEC; • Publication of materials in periodical papers and journals, speeches in mass-media, sessions of Lithuanian parliament committees and commissions etc. LITHUANIAN NUCLEAR ENERGY ASSOCIATION
