Required Electronic Submission • Project motivated by the promise of increased access to the rich content • Electronic thesis submission became an option for graduating students in 1999 • By 2006, nearly 50% opt to submit electronically • All thesis submissions must be electronic, beginning October 2006
Required Open Access • Strong communication channels essential to recognize and address issues • All electronically submitted theses are open access • Applications for permission to temporarily restrict circulation are considered • Usually in cases where a patent is pending • Benefits of open access for authors and researchers • Enhance reputation of university • Promote career and publication potential of author • Advance of scholarly communication
