Context & Background LUU’s Vision: ‘Love your time at Leeds’ LUU • 400 staff (Ft/Pt) - Majority are student staff • Turnover of 10 million • Democratic and governance re-structure Student Activities Department • Over 300 clubs and societies • Operational • Club and Society formation/closure/representation/funding • Club and society development, training and ongoing support • Activity coordination – BUCS, Varsities • Health and safety • Financial • Committee training

  5. Student Activities & Democracy • Activities officer equivalent to AU President but represents all 320 clubs and socs, not just sports. • Heightened role of the Activity reps • Reps sit on Better Union forum • Facilitates change and influences Union policy
