  2. Masks as well as respirators are useful items to keep handy for the flu or other types of airborne pandemics. While most of the people are familiar with face masks and respirators, many aren’t sure what the difference between the 2 is. Both are great for protection, but when does one really offer more protection than the other?

  3. Following is A Breakdown Of What An N95 Mask Is N: this is often a Respirator Rating Letter Class. It stands for “Non-Oil” meaning that if no oil-based particulates are present, then you’ll be able to use the mask in the work environment. The ratings of other masks are R (resistant to oil for about 8 hours) and P (that is oil proof).

  4. Following is A Breakdown Of What An N95 Mask Is 95: Masks ending in a 95, actually have a 95% efficiency. Masks ending in a 99 actually have a 99% efficiency. Masks ending in 100 are about 99.97% efficient and that is actually the same as a HEPA quality filter.

  5. Following is A Breakdown Of What An N95 Mask Is 3 Microns: The masks actually filter out contaminants like dusts, mists and fumes. The minimum size of .3 microns of particulates and enormous droplets won’t pass through the barrier, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC.)

  6. Following is A Breakdown Of What An N95 Mask Is Material: The filtration material on the mask is an electrostatic non- woven polypropylene fiber. Valve: Some disposable N95 masks actually comes with an optional exhalation valve. “The presence of an exhalation valve actually reduces exhalation resistance that makes it easier to breathe (exhale,)” according to the CDC.
