  2. Introduction • Please quiet cell phones as we have little time for interruptions • Please keep notes, we will have a question/answer time at the end of the meeting • We will attempt to give you all information needed within 30 minutes • DYBA website – www.eteamz.com/jrjags

  3. Staff and Volunteers • Troy Pachner – Varsity Head Coach • Jeremy Kane – Junior Varsity Head Coach • Will Gosch – L3 Head Coach • Dave Walker – Director • Chris Pedersen – Ast. Director • Craig Davis – Gold Crown Director • Eric Whittenburg – k-2 Director • Susan Fallander – Treasurer/Administrator • Michael Sullivan - Consultant

Goals of the DYBA • Develop successful student athletes • Commitment to make coaches better • Have the best development/feeder programs in the state • The most committed parents and volunteers • Motivate all student athletes through basketball • Encourage students to have pride in Dennison and D’Evelyn • Reach all pre-High School students K-8 for the first time

  5. Immediate Needs • Over 179 student athletes and growing quickly • Web Administrators • Data Entry • Coaches/Ast Coaches • Team Managers • Grades 3-5 Director • Help in the K-2 program • Recruitment • Coordinators • We NEED more help

  6. Kindergarten – 2nd Graders • No Tryouts • FUNdamentals • Once/Twice per week • After school program • October – December • Depending on popularity • Register for YMCA or Local Rec Center Leagues • Play with other Dennison Students • Small cost per month to participate • Need Help to get this off the ground

  7. 3rd – 5th Graders • Tryouts for like talent teams to play League Basketball through a local Bear Creek/Green Mountain • Continue to develop skills • Start learning small parts of the High School Program • Higher level of play • Recreational / Competitive • Practices will be approximately 2 times per week • Could have multiple games per week and weekend • Possibly tournaments • Scrimmage during High School Halftime Game

  8. 6th – 8th Graders • Tryouts • Gold/Silver Crown • Jefferson County League • Possibly both depending on commitment levels of families on the team • Many differing levels of play and commitment • Preparing student athletes for High School Basketball • Heavy High School involvement, including offense and defensive sets • Scrimmage during Half Time of High School Game

Gold Crown • Most competitive league in Colorado for grades 6-8 • January 3rd – February 14th • Tournament follows regular season • February 21st, 26th, 27th, 28th • $1350 per team (average 8-9 players per team) • Gym Time is not part of the cost - ~$100 per player • Double Headers on Sundays • Minimum 15 games • 2-4 Tournaments • Registration no later than September 30th with full payment to DYBA assigned team

  10. Jefferson County League • $155 grades 3-5 • $165 grades 6-8 • ~$100 grades 6-8 that are playing Gold Crown • County Leagues has many differing levels of play • Recreation • Recreation/Competitive • Competitive • Gold Crown Lite • Payment made to League • Games on weekdays and Saturdays

Commitment • Higher the level, Higher the commitment • Mandatory attendance at practice within reason • Cost and Time commitments are drastically different between Gold Crown teams and League teams • Any Gold Crown tryout attendance is $100 deposit • $10 deposit for all league tryouts • If not selected for a Gold Crown team a refund of $90 • Program Fundraiser – Spaghetti Dinner, commit to selling 10 tickets per player. Students will work the dinner.

Tryouts • Grades 3-8 • Teams should be similar talent for best competition • Some student athletes will be referred to the league or YMCA to further their skills if a team can not be formed • 3 days to form teams • Teams will be announced on the Jr Jags website • Teams announced using the number the student athlete wears during tryouts

  13. Involvement Numbers - Current • Kindergarten – 12 • 1st Grade – 11 • 2nd Grade - 6 • 3rd Grade – 11 • 4th Grade – 7 (Need at least 1 or 2 more) • 5th Grade – 21 • 6th Grade – 36 • 7th Grade – 33 • 8th Grade - 30

  15. New to the program this year • K-2 program. Proposed to be after school and create a fun atmosphere to learn basketball. • Coaching Academy • Day in the Life coaching program – Attend and help Coach Pachner before, during, and after a Varsity Game • Fundraiser Dinner • Criminal Background checks on all Team Managers, Coaches, Ast. Coaches and any other authority figure on each team
