Recent History • Vermont State Archives and Records Administration (VSARA) was created in 2008 • Greater collaboration with public agencies on records management programs • Newly-renovated building opened, 2009 – 2010

County Court Records Project • 2-year project • Caledonia, Lamoille, and Orleans Counties • 330 cubic feet of case files and 500 volumes • From c. 1780 to 1945 • A model to address the remaining 11 counties
Probate Court Records • Probate Court consolidation in 2011
Probate Court Records Transfers to the State Archives since January 2011: Fair Haven District Windsor District Marlboro District Westminster District Franklin District Bennington District
Future Probate Court Transfers • Somewhat dependent on the courts • Prefer a county-by-county approach • Tentative discussions about Hartford District, Manchester District, and Lamoille District records
Genealogical Society of Utah • Reformatting Vermont probate records since 1950s • FamilySearch also is currently digitizing vital records from 1760 - 1954
Contract with the VT Department of Health to digitize vital records, 1909-2008 • Prospects for a Vermont state page
