On the Cross or in the Crowd Luke 23: 32-49
THREE CROSSES There are three crosses mentioned in this story: The cross of Jesus, The cross of the repentant criminal, and the cross of the unrepentant criminal. You are on one of them today! Or you are in the crowd!
THREE PEOPLE There were three people on those crosses. One was pure, and spotless, the Son of God. The others were criminals. They were guilty; Jesus was not.
MANY RESPONSES There were many different responses to what was happening that day: The rulers sneered; The soldiers mocked; The crowd stood and looked; The criminals blasphemed; The criminals rebuked; One man forgave; One man prayed; One soldier glorified God.
YOUR RESPONSE God is giving you an opportunity to come to Jesus. Don’t wait right up until the last moment. Only one person was promised eternal life that day. Your odds are not very good if you wait. What are the chances that you might, in the last moments of your life, repent and receive Jesus? You might not be able to.
Life is so uncertain; you need to trust Christ now! Which cross best represents you today? Have you been crucified with Christ? Are you already His child? Are you sorry for your sins and have you asked Jesus to remember you?? Or are you like the others in the crowd, standing , looking, or actually hurling insults at the Son of God?
He is not here, but is risen! Remember how He spoke to you when He was still in Galilee, saying, ‘The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.’ Luke 24:6-7
