  1. Providing Mental Health Support to Street Children Street children in India face immense mental health challenges due to their unpredictable and dangerous living conditions. Living on the streets exposes them to violence, exploitation, and trauma, leading to severe psychological distress. Constant exposure to abuse, neglect, and substance abuse can exacerbate their mental health issues, leaving them vulnerable and traumatized. The lack of stability, safety, and support networks further compounds their struggles, making it difficult for them to cope with the harsh realities of street life. The uncertainty of where their next meal will come from, the constant threat of violence, and the absence of nurturing relationships take a toll on their mental well-being. Many street children suffer from anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and other mental health conditions as a result of their traumatic experiences. Without access to proper care and support, these mental health issues can persist and have long-term consequences for their overall well- being. To address these challenges, it is crucial to provide marginalized children with comprehensive support and rehabilitation services. This includes access to safe shelters, education, healthcare, and psychosocial support. Shelter homes offer a safe and secure environment where street children can find refuge from the dangers of the streets. Education provides them with opportunities for personal and intellectual growth, empowering them to break free from the cycle of poverty and exploitation.

  2. Furthermore, access to healthcare ensures that at-risk children receive the medical attention they need to address physical and mental health issues. Psychosocial support, including counseling and therapy, helps them process their traumatic experiences, build resilience, and develop coping strategies. By offering a holistic approach to care, underserved children can receive the necessary tools and resources to heal and thrive. Salaam Baalak Trust, a charitable trust in Delhi, is a beacon of hope for street children in India, providing vital support and resources to those in need. You can donate for children's health programs run by SBT to help break the cycle of poverty and exploitation. With the support of organizations like Salaam Baalak Trust and the collective efforts of society, we can create a more inclusive and compassionate world where every child has the opportunity to grow and thrive, regardless of their circumstances.
