QEP Process and Timeline • Dialogue Phase • Web site Launched (uncgqep.uncg.edu) • Open Forums (9/24, 9/25, 10/2, 10/12, 10/17 and 10/23/12) • Idea Submission via web site (September and October 2012) • Public commentary on idea Proposals (October & November 2012) • Selection of Top ideas to Develop further (December 2012) • Topic Selection • Public Commentary on Top Proposals (12/2012-1/31/2013) • All University Survey (2/1-2/15/13) • Final Topic Selection (2/15/13) • DesignPhase (spring & summer 2013) • Writing Phase (fall, 2013) • Submission to SACS (December, 2013) • SACS On-Site Visit/Consultation (March 18-20, 2014)
Process Going Forward • Steering Committee meets 11/19/12 to discuss Forum Feedback on 5 “short list” finalists • Consultation with primary units impacted by short list • Consultation with SACS Leadership Team about short list • 12/5/12 Seek Faculty Senate Endorsement for short list • Finalize and publish short list @ QEP web Site (mid December) • Further develop short list proposals (12/2012 to 1/31/13) • Open Commentary on short list (12/2012-1/31/13) • Campus wide referendum (2/1/2013-2/15/2013)
QEP Check List: • Does the proposal address a significant opportunity to improve student learning that emerges from UNCG’s institutional data? • Do the proposed improvements in student learning align with UNCG’s Vision and Mission statements? • Does the proposal tie clearly to one or more of the activated Strategic Plan Goals? • Do the topic and the proposed approach engage wide interest at UNCG? • Are the impacted student populations clearly identified? • Does the proposal state clear student learning outcomes that are measurable, or can such SLOs be readily developed from the proposal? • Do the suggested strategies tie clearly to realization of the student learning outcomes? • Are the suggested strategies grounded in research on teaching, learning and student development? • Are applicable and direct methods for assessing student learning identified in the proposal? • Are the members of the UNCG community responsible for implementing the proposal broadly identified and the necessary resources indicated? • Is the proposal realistically achievable in relation to UNCG’s resources?
