3. Cultural Competence “Cultural and linguistic competence is a set of congruent behaviors, attitudes, and policies that come together in a system, agency, or among professionals that enables effective work in cross-cultural situations.
‘Competence’ implies having the capacity to function effectively as an individual and an organization within the context of the cultural beliefs, behaviors, and needs presented by consumers and their communities”
4. Cultural Awareness & Sensitivity Being aware of your own biases and be sensitive to other cultures different from your own.
Cultural Awareness: developing sensitivity and understanding of another ethnic group. This usually involves internal changes in terms of attitudes and values.
Awareness and sensitivity also refer to the qualities of openness and flexibility that people develop in relation to others. Cultural awareness must be supplemented with cultural knowledge(Adams, 1995).

6. Cultural Sensitivity & Convocation/Pinning Be aware of cultural differences among students, attendees, university officials, etc.
Be inclusive of all cultures in prayer, practices, and speeches.
Present ceremony with dignity & sensitivity
Don’t exclude certain religions/ethnic groups based on your own beliefs.
