  3. Home Routine • People want to do housework • Value “safe and sound” life • Teach children responsibility • Yet, people still want spare time • People use technology in ways that it is not intended to be used

  4. Family • Technology to family members • Children – entertainment • Adults – information & useful benefits • Children generally influence family purchases of technology

  5. Family Collectivity • Technology “…multiplied the amount of communication, but at the same time, weakened commitments.” • Yet, cell phones are very successful • “Smart living might, ideally, be a gate to a new kind of collectivity.”

  6. Technology in Context • Technology is for work environments • The home should have “technology-free” elements

  7. Things to keep in mind… • Technology is not a replacement, but an addition • People’s needs dictate the way they use technology • Technology is used differently depending on its context
