1. The Goa, Daman and Diu Preservation of Trees Act, 1984 (Act No. 6 of 1984) published in the Official Gazette, Series I No. 21 (Extraordinary) dated 23-08-1984. 2. The Goa, Daman and Diu Preservation of Trees (Amendment) Act, 1986 (Act No. 10) Series I No. 35. came into force at once. 3. The Goa Preservation of Trees (Amendment) Act, 2001 (Act No. 40 of 2001) Official Gazette, Series I No. 9 dated 31-05-2001 and came into force at once.
4. The Goa Preservation of Trees (Amendment) Act, 2003 (Act No. 14). Official Gazette, Series I No. 7 (Extraordinary) dated 19-05-2003 and came into force at once. 5. The Goa Preservation of Trees (Amendment) Act, 2008 (Act No. 13). Official Gazette, Series I No. 10 (Extraordinary No. 2) dated 10-06-2008 and came into force at once. Inclusion of Coconut Tree.

The changing DIMENSIONS of a TREE • (j) “tree” means any woody plant whose branches spring from and are supported upon a trunkor body and whose trunk or body is not less than five centimetre in diameter at a height of thirty centimetres from the ground level and is not less than one metre in height from the ground level; [Original Act, 1984] • NOW changed to TEN centimetres at ONE metre height from the ground [Amendment 2 of 2016]

Insert " 12-A.- Removal of trees, etc., which are in ruinous state or 'likely to fall.- • Goa Preservation of Trees (Amendment) Act, 2016. It shall come into force at once. • 2. Omission of section 1–A.-
(a) the following whether found in, or brought from, a forest or not, that is to say — timber, charcoal, catechu wood-oil, resin, natural varnish, bark, lac, mahua flowers/seeds, kuth and myrabolams, and (b) the following when found in, or brought from, a forest, that is to say — (i) trees and leaves, flowers and fruits, and all other parts or produce not hereinbefore mentioned, of trees, (ii) plants not being trees (including grass, creepers, reeds and moss), and all parts OR produce of such plants, • DEFINITIONS: (f) “forest produce” includes—
Permission shall not be refused • if the tree — (i) is dead, diseased or wind-fallen; or (ii) is silviculturally mature provided it does not occur on a steep slope; or • (iii) constitutes a danger to life or property; or • (iv) constitutes obstruction to traffic; or • (v) is substantially damaged or destroyed by fire, lightning, rain or other natural causes; or (vi) is required in rural areas to be cut with a view to appropriating the wood or leaves thereof or any part thereof for bonafide use for fuel, fodder, agricultural implements or other domestic use.
