Polar Bears By Melissa Polar Bears Fur Polar bears fur is actually clear, not white. The sun reflects off their coat, making it look white. Their skin is black, which absorbs the heat and keeps the polar bear warm. Since they have two layers of fur, adults often overheat when they run.

  2. Polar Bears Fur • Polar bears fur is actually clear, not white. The sun reflects off their coat, making it look white. Their skin is black, which absorbs the heat and keeps the polar bear warm. Since they have two layers of fur, adults often overheat when they run.

  3. Global Warming • Global warming effects polar bears, because polar bears live on pack ice. The global climate is so hot, its melting the pack ice, decreasing the population of polar bears. If they swim to long they eventually drown, because pack ice is rare now, and is one of the main thing that polar bears use to rest on while swimming.

  5. Body of a Polar Bear • A Polar bear’s body can be 8-11 feet long. A polar bear’s body is designed to be excellent swimmers and divers.Polar bear’s paws are made to walk on ice, with their claws prevent them from slipping.

  6. Behavior of a Polar Bear Polar bears are most active during the first third of the day, and least active the last third. When polar bears are not hunting, they are usually sleeping.
