GTA Chapter Membership Meeting Strategic Plan 2011 – 2014 CMC – GTA Chapter “Adding Value for Consultants”
GTA Mission Statement • To deliver programs to and services for members and perspective members in the GTA to support the advancement of Management Consultants and the CMC designation
Key Goals • Membership Growth: To support growth of CMC Canada ~ membership growth, recruitment, and retention in the GTA region. • Membership Value: To deliver programs and services to members and prospective members so that they see value in the GTA Chapter of CMC Canada. • Networking: To provide meaningful networking opportunities for members, potential members, and other stakeholders (e.g., clients, students, professional organizations, academic institutions, educators).
Key Goals • Professional Development: To provide professional development opportunities for members to meet their needs in line with CMC Canada and CMC-Ontario Institute guidelines. • Chapter Excellence: To govern the chapter with excellence and to be an effective resource to other levels within the CMC organization.
CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTORS & RESOURCES • A clear value proposition • Volunteers - more needed by CMC GTA • Effective means to engage and induct members • Communications to members that are relevant, effective and welcomed • Alignment of activities among the three levels of the CMC organization • The management competencies representing excellence in management consulting are defined
Business Plan Update: Member Communications • Goal: Launch the gtacmc.com website and track metrics for unique visitors; page and item hits; time on the site • Status: CMC official website portal has capability to feature GTA events. No metrics • Goal: Utilize social media • Status: Focus on LinkedIn site, versus Facebook
Business Plan Update: Member Communications • Goal: Post chapter event materials (e.g., speaker recordings, minutes, SIG materials) on-line • Status: CMC portal supports file upload. need to package material in some useable way. Need to manage IP rights, option is a blog need to decide who will own it.
Business Plan Update: Member Communications • Goal: Identify annually five leading topics of interest to management consultants via On-line survey via website • Status: in process
Business Plan Update: Member Value • Goal: Have 90% of members in the chapter attend at least one networking event • Status: recent event in Mississauga drew 25 attendees
Business Plan Update: Professional Development • Goal:Have 50% of members in the chapter attend at least one PD event • Status: in process; July – Oct., 65 attendees at 4 SIG events • Goal:Plan and deliver one signature member event per year (e.g., PD) • Status: Member survey, January 2012
Business Plan Update: Professional Development • Goal: Two member networking events (not SIGs) to be held annually Status:November 16: Mississauga Networking events held at the Living Art Centre • Additional events being planned for 2012 • Holiday / Christmas Party; New member reception
Business Plan Update: MembershipValue • Goal: Each SIG to deliver at least three events annually (one outside the downtown core) • Status: Planning is in process
Business Plan Update: MembershipValue • Goal: Achieve ten student internships each year through CMC member firms/affiliates • Status: Student internship program policy under development; CMC National office support and involvement affirmed. • Goal:Develop and deliver a Mentorship program • Status: Reviewing process
Business Plan Update: MembershipValue • Goal:Meet with educators and students at each of the four MBA schools in the GTA • Status: Ryerson MBA Case Competition Judging, October 21; Awarding of “CMC Trophy” • Consultation Presentation to the Schulich Consulting Club (SCC) on Nov. 23, 2011 – Schulich School of Business, York University.
Business Plan Update: MembershipValue • Goal:Meet with educators and students at each of the four MBA schools in the GTA • Relationship plan developed with McMaster University – Info session held Oct 2011 with MBA students with approximately 35% of students attending. • Initial contact made with Ryerson University –follow up regarding relationship plan
Business Plan Update: Membership Growth • Goal:Sponsorship of Conferences / Symposium to increase awareness of CMC-Canada and attract potential members. • Status:Sponsorship of NSpire Student Conference on Mar. 18, 2011. • Sponsorship of PMI Lakeshore Symposium on Nov. 5, 2011.
Business Plan Update: Membership Growth • Goal:Sponsorship of Conferences / Symposium to increase awareness of CMC-Canada and attract potential members. Sponsorship of Globe Student Conference on Nov. 10-11, 2011 – Schulich Schoolof Business, York University. Being Reviewed – Sponsorship of “The Young Entrepreneurs Challenge” Event for Q1 2012 University of Toronto, Mississauga (UTM).
Business Plan Update: Volunteer Resources • Goal:Establish and maintain a listing of active volunteers; Identify volunteer opportunities for volunteers; Plan a “volunteer appreciation” / certificates at conclusion of programming year. • Status: Listing of active volunteers in process; resources have been utilized at various events
Advocacy • Ongoing support to Ontario Advocacy committee & liaison with the GTA Board
