POST HIGH SCHOOL PLANNING The goal is to get here, But then what?
POST HIGH SCHOOL PLANNING Things to do: 1. Attend evening student/parent program on Oct. 22 2. Meet with Marybeth Kravets, College Counselor Call 224-632-3060 to make appt. 3. Meet with college reps in CCRC - check for times and dates on Naviance website, daily announcements, or bulletin board outside CCRC

ACT • Curriculum-based test covering: - English - Math - Science Reasoning - Reading - Writing (optional, but recommended each time)
ACT • Register on-line at www.act.org • Watch test dates and deadlines carefully • Must apply separately for testing accommodations: http://www.act.org/aap/disab/index.html
SAT: REASONING • 3 components covering: - Critical Reading - Math - Writing • Register at www.collegeboard.com • Study guides available in the CCRC • Read this if accommodations needed: http://www.collegeboard.com/student/testing/sat/reg/ssd.html
SAT SUBJECT TESTS • Each test is one hour covering a specific subject • Some selective colleges require up to 3 as part of application process • Check with the college to see how many and what subjects they require • Subject tests cannot be taken on the same day as the SAT reasoning test
PSAT • Sophomores and juniors eligible • Scholarships and National Merit awards tied to the test if taken during junior year • Can be considered a “practice” for the SAT • Register in bookstore at cost of $13
