PSA/BepiColombo Assessment • By Atmospheres Node Staff On March 27 Santa Martinez delivered the PDS4 supporting material PSA used for BepiColumbo training. Recall: The BepiColumbo mission is composed of two spacecraft: The Mercury Planetary Orbiter (MPO), which will study the surface and interior of Mercury and is being developed, launched and operated by ESA. The Mercury Magnetospheric Orbiter (MMO), which will study the magnetic filed and magnetosphere. JAXA/ISAS is responsible for its development and operation. PDS MC Meeting, Columbia MD, Apr 2-3, 2013
What have they tested? • Bundle creation for 11 Instruments on MPO (ESA) and 5 on MMO (JAXA) • In progress, 11 ESA instruments have sample product labels already generated • In progress, 5 JAXA in development • Development of PSA equivalents to SIS docs for each instrument are well underway • Products exercised 0800k Schemas (currently using 310a) • Table_Character, Table_Binary, CDF (limited), FITS, Array_2D, Array_3D, Array_2D_Spectrum • CDF will be used in MMO (JAXA) and will be further defined in upcoming PDS/PSA meeting in May (haven’t been fully prototyped yet) • Been working with 310a schemas will move to 310b in April • Pipeline Prototyping (to start in April) PDS MC Meeting, Columbia MD, Apr 2-3, 2013
How have they done? Bundle generation has been generally very successful thus far Labels for most of the 11 instruments look comparable to those done by LADEE or MAVEN (or migrated PHX) at this point (given 0800k examples so far) Setup is analogous to our setup for LADEE and MAVEN and seems to be positive and productive PSA equivalents to our SISs are already in development Updates will be required as we push forward with development of PDS4 but pipelines should be able to handle changes – expected first science data by ~2023 PDS MC Meeting, Columbia MD, Apr 2-3, 2013
