  1. The Lies We Believe:“Salvation Is All That Matters.”

  2. John 8:43-44 Why can’t you understand what I am saying? It’s because you can’t even hear me! 44 For you are the children of your father the devil, and you love to do the evil things he does.

  3. He was a murderer from the beginning. He has always hated the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, it is consistent with his character; for he is a liar and the father of lies.

  4. 2 Corinthians 11:1-3 I hope you will put up with a little more of my foolishness. Please bear with me. 2 For I am jealous for you with the jealousy of God himself. I promised you as a pure bride to one husband—Christ.

  5. 3 But I fear that somehow your pure and undivided devotion to Christ will be corrupted, just as Eve was deceived by the cunning ways of the serpent.

  6. 1 Peter 5:8 Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.

  7. The enemy of God and His people is not armed with great power or perfectknowledge, but what he has he has mastered- deception. Sometimes lies are bold and affronting, sometimes nuanced and subtle, but lies are never from God.

  8. John 10:10 • The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.

  9. What is Salvation? • Accomplished by Jesus at Calvary in the past. • Freedom from spiritual consequences enjoyed by those who trust Jesus now. • Experienced fully at the Day of the Lord in the future.

  10. BUT…when we suppose that Salvation is all that matters in mission, vision, or state of being we neglect the fullness of abundant life! It’s like saying “I Do” at a wedding and then not going home together, not living in relationship, not growing in life and love.

  11. Salvation is both a starting point and a future experience, but the time inbetween is meant to be abundant life in joyful, empowered, free, and securerelationship with Jesus that reshapes everything we see, know, and do until His day of final victory.

  12. "Genuine Christianity is more than a relationship with Jesus, as expressed in personal piety, church attendance, Bible Study, and works of charity. It is more than discipleship, more than believing a system of doctrines about God. Genuine Christianity is a way of seeing and comprehending all reality. It is a worldview.” –Chuck Colson

  13. We are not asked to just getpeoplesaved- we are commanded to makedisciples. Salvation is a passiveexperience. Discipleship is a relationship that starts even before someone is saved!

  14. Life is what matters. All of it. • Life yesterday matters to Jesus- where it was good we may be thankful, where we were hurt we may trust His tenderness, and where we were wrong we may be forgiven and restored.

  15. Life is what matters. All of it. • Life today matters to Jesus- where I walk in truth I will see His fruit and where I walk deceived I may feel His love compel me back towards abundantlife.

  16. Life is what matters. All of it. • Life tomorrow matters to Jesus. It is secure in His love and life, He will never leave or forsake and will continue to guide us into His eternally blessed Kingdom.

  17. The Gospel is not about God making bad people good, good people holy, or even lost people saved. It is about God resurrecting His creation back to life from death, depravity, and division. Salvation matters, but it is far from the only thing.
