What is CERN • The European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) was established on 29th September in 1954. • 20 countries of the European Union are member of the CERN and 7 more are observers. • It has 24,000 full time employees. Near about 10,000 visiting researchers are engaged here from 608 universities from around the world.

  4. A Man Timothy John "Tim" Berners-Lee is an English computer scientist, MIT professor. He is the inventor of the World Wide Web.  He was born on June 8, 1955 Timothy John "Tim" Berners-Lee,

  6. How did he do this • In March 1989 he submitted a proposal. To establish the ‘www’? • No, he proposed to formulate an information management system for CERN. • And what did his boss Mike Sendall said?

  7. VAGUE • but • EXCITING • Mike Sendall wrote these words on the proposal and allowed Berners-Lee to continue.

  8. Inspired by the challenging permission from the boss Tim Berners-Lee posted a short summary of the WWW project on August 6, 1991, on the alt.hypertext newsgroup. • That date is now marked as the debut of the WWW as a publicly available service on the Internet.

  9. In 1992 Tim posted the first photo on the www. It was the Les HorriblesCernettes, It was a house band of the CERN.
