Affirmative • like + …ing • I like -- we like • you like -- you like • He/she/it likes -- they like • Something you enjoy doing; positive • I like sleeping. • They like traveling.
Speaking Practice • Everybody stand up • When you’re ready, raise your hand • Give one affirmative sentence about a hobby • If you are correct you may sit down
Negative • do not like + …ing • I do not like -- we do not like • you do not like -- you do not like • she does not like -- they do not like • Something you dislike doing; negative • I do not like studying. • He does not like learning Spanish.
Speaking Practice • Everybody stand up • When you’re ready, raise your hand • Give one negative sentence about a hobby • If you are correct you may sit down
Interrogative • Do … like + ing? • Do I like -- do we like • Do you like -- do you like • Does he/she/it like -- do they like • Asking whether or not you enjoy doing something; inquisitive :-? • Do you like reading? • Do we like swimming?

…ing Spellings • Verbs that have a short vowel followed by a consonant, double then add –ing • swim swimming • Verbs that have a long vowel or a long vowel followed by a consonant, just add –ing • go going • play playing • Verbs that have a long vowel, consonant and silent e, drop the e and add –ing • take taking
Homework • Pages 1, 2, 3 in the “Say it in English” workbook • Due Wednesday before class

Whiteboard Game • Form teams of four people • Each team will receive one marker, eraser and whiteboard • These are new, bought with MY money, DO NOT DEFACE them, please • Look at the sentence • Correct the sentence, grammar, spelling capitalization…EVERYTHING • When you finish and are correct hold up the board • The first team to fix the sentence perfectly will earn one point
