  3. Introducing Maeda • Maeda is one of the largest construction and equipment manufacturing companies in Japan. Looking to satisfy a demand that had been identified, they founded Maeda Seisakusho Co. Ltd. to manufacture a range of specialist construction equipment including mini crawler cranes in cooperation with Komatsu and Tadano. Other companies followed their lead and today the world market is dominated by two manufacturers, of which Maeda is by far the largest. • Approximate shares of the world market: • Maeda 70-75% • Unic 20-25% • Others 5%

  4. Who Uses Maeda Mini Cranes? • Railways • Boatyards • Aero industry • Roofing contractors • Public utilities (electricity, gas, etc.) • Cemeteries • Forestry • Paper mills • Plant rental companies • And many others …… • Steelworks • Foundries • Construction companies • Industrial maintenance companies • Glazing and cladding installation companies • Petro-chemical plants • Power stations • Mechanical workshops • Civil engineers • Steel erectors

  5. Benefits for the Maeda Customer: • Internal lifting is no longer a problem as Maeda cranes are available with electric or LPG power • Environmentally friendly, zero emissions with the electric motor • Safe lifting is now possible in confined or restricted access areas • Maeda Mini Crawler cranes are easy to position close to loads which could only previously be handled by a much larger and more expensive crane • Lifting from as much as 103.5 metres below machine level is possible • Depending on local regulations, the operator might not need a crane licence • The customer saves time and money if he can avoid having to construct specialised lifting systems or hire expensive cranes • Staff are not expected to lift excessive weights which might contravene manual handling regulations

  6. Benefits for the Rental Company: • Ability to offer customers a complete solution instead of contracting out work to another company to undertake the lifting • Ability to get involved in projects at an earlier stage • At competitive hire rates, pay-back time is very short • As the crane is often used on internal applications the working-life of the crane is extended • Because of the crane’s versatility, users often finish ahead of schedule thus reducing costs • Once on site, new applications become apparent therefore generating more work • Complicated jobs can be completed more easily and quickly

  7. Easy to Transport: • Maeda cranes are easy to transport to and around sites • The MC104, MC174 and MC285 can be towed on a trailer behind a car • Gradeability up to 23% makes loading and unloading easy

  15. Maeda Case Study – Glass Handling A Maeda MC285 at work in a Belgian football stadium replacing 6 panels of glass that had been damaged during the season. It was a tricky job as the only way to get to the glass was through the stadium and up the stairs. No problem for the MC285 however – proving just how versatile these Mini Cranes can be.

  16. Maeda Case Study – Uneven Ground These machines are capable of working anywhere, the extendable outriggers can be adjusted to suit even the most uneven ground which means jobs can be completed quickly and without fuss in areas that bigger cranes simply can’t access.

  17. Maeda Case Study – Restricted Access Lifting Narrow doorways, confined working spaces – these versatile machines can handle it all. The Guggenheim Museum in Germany recently used two MC285’s to install a piece of artwork. The artwork was constructed in an enclosed room where tight space and limited access required a crane small enough to gain entrance yet capable of lifting up to 2 tons.

  18. Maeda Case Study – Restoration Projects Maeda Mini Cranes really come into their own when it comes to specialist lifting during restoration projects and those requiring sensitive work. The slim bodies of the machines ensure they can access narrow doorways and corridors while rubber tracks ensure there is no damage to historic flooring. The electric motor option means no pollution inside the buildings to worry about.

  19. Maeda Case Study – Construction The Maeda Level Crawler Crane range consists of the LC785B and LC1385B, machines that are capable of lifting a massive 4.9 and 6 tons respectively. Coupled with an impressive Pick & Carry Duty of up to 2 tons, these cranes are able to complete jobs quickly and easily without the need for a much larger crane.

  20. Maeda Case Study – Restricted Access The LC785B and LC1385B operate with no outriggers and near-zero tail swing, meaning these machines can get into sites that larger cranes can’t, yet still house enough power to complete a wide variety of jobs.
