  4. Matauranga TūhāhāAn Indigenous Knowledge Base Te Tiriti Ngā Atua Whakapapa Te Ao Whanaungatanga Te Reo Rangatira Ngā Kete Mana Tangata

He Marautanga • Draws on the pedagogical content of indigenous Māori curricula, Te Marautanga o Aotearoa and combines this with second language teaching techniques and approaches e.g. Kura Reo • Practices traditonal pedagogies • Encapsulates whakapapa, waiata, whakatauākī, kīwaha, karakia as traditional contexts • Draws on the knowledge content from specifically Ngai Tahu stories and knowledge – Te Kete o Rakaihautu • Language content generally at an equivalent and higher than 200 level university study

Uniqueness of Ka Puanani • Acknowledges that whānau are the first teachers and life long teachers of their children – He aha te mea nui o te ao, he tangata, he tangata • Embraces co-construction and collaboration as an important element of the teaching and learning cycle – Kotahitanga, Mahi Tahi • Acknowledges Te taha tane and Te taha wahine as important elements for balance • Allows students to experience the ethos of multiple schools and communities
