Duplex Pump Extra Credit • We need to make sure that the motor can not run backwards • The customer would like to start a second pump when the frequency of pump #1 exceeds 50hz.
Duplex Pump Parameter Setup Extra Credit • First need to change parameter P1.1 = 0 • Motor can not run backwards: • P6.23 (REV Blocked) = 1 (enabled) • Disabling the Start Rev (P3.3) does not disable running the drive in reverse in “keypad” mode. • Exceed 50 Hz: • P5.1-3 (Digital or Relay Output) = 10 (Freq Monitoring 1) • P5.4 (Freq Monitoring 1) = 2 (P5.5 – P6.4, high limit) • P5.5 (Freq Monitoring 1 Ref Value) = 50 hz • On/Off delays???
HVAC Duct Pressure Application • The customer has an HVAC system that needs to maintain a duct pressure of 75psi. They are using a 0-200psi pressure transducer to monitor the duct pressure. The transducer’s output is a 0-10V signal. • Min Freq = 0hz • Accel and Decel = 5 seconds • Motor Data: • FLA: 1.0A • Current Limit: 1.2A • 1800 rpm • .85 power factor • 230V • 60 Hz
HVAC Duct Pressure Hints and Clues • Understanding PID • Setpoint value as %. • Example: Customer has a 0-10 psi transducer and would like to maintain a pressure of 4 psi. • Convert psi to % based on transducer range • 4/10 = x/100 • x = 40% • Hints: The only parameters that you should need to modify are the following: P9.1, P9.4, P9.5, P9.6
HVAC Duct Pressure Parameter Setup • P1.1 = 0 (All parameters) • P1.2 = 2 (Fan) • P1.3 = 1 (NA) • P2.1 (AI1 signal range) = 0 (0-10V) • P6.3 (Min Freq) = 0 hz (Default is 20hz) • P6.5 = 5 sec (Default is 20 seconds) • P6.6 = 5 sec (Default is 20 seconds) • P7.1 = 1.0 • P7.2 = 1.2 • P7.3 = 1800
HVAC Duct Pressure Parameter Setup • P9.1 (PID Controller) = 1 (Activated) • P9.4 (PID Controller Keypad Reference) = 37.5% • 75/200 = x/100 • 200x = 7500 • x = 7500/200 = 37.5 • P9.5 (PID Controller Setpoint Source) = 0 (Keypad) • P9.6 (PID Controller Actual Value) = 1 (AI1)
HVAC Duct Pressure Extra Credit • The customer would like the drive to conserve energy “sleep” if the output frequency falls below 10hz for 5 seconds or longer. It should “wake up” once the pressure transducer drops below 70 psi. • The customer would also like the ability to disable the PID loop and follow a standard 0-10V signal supplied by a PLC. • Lastly the customer would like the drive to monitor the duct pressure.
HVAC Duct Pressure Parameter SetupExtra Credit • Sleep Mode: • P9.12 (Frequency) = 10 hz • P9.13 (Wake up) = 35% (70/200 = x/100) • P9.14 (Delay)= 5 sec • PID Disable • P2.1 (AI1, signal range) = 0 default • P3.12 (PID Disable) = 6 default • P6.2 (Primary Remote Speed Ref) = 3 default • Monitor Duct Pressure • P9.19 (PID Controller, Process Value Scale) = 2
Conveyor Application • Start and stop by PLC (Maintained 24V Inputs) • Sensor input required for motor to start • Primary speed control 2-10V Utilizing AI2 sent from PLC • Set speed of 20 Hz also controlled from a PLC • Accel and Decel = 5 seconds • Motor Data: • FLA: 1.4A • Current Limit: 1.75A • 1700 rpm • .87 power factor • 230V • 60 Hz
Conveyor Application • Reset drive to factory defaults • Can be partially configured through quick start wizard.
Conveyor Parameter Setup • P1.1 (Quick Start) = 0 (All Parameters) • P1.2 (Application) = 3 (High Load) • P1.3 (Country Defaults) = 1 (NA) • P2.5 (AI2 Signal Range) = 1 (2-10V) • Also confirm microswitch S3 • What is AL50? • P3.1 (Start/Stop Logic) = 3 (FWD/REV) • P3.8 (Run Enable) = 3 (2-6 Digital Input) • If DI2 you need to disable Start Rev signal (P3.3 = 0) • Be wary of default I/O • P3.9 (fixed freq, binary B0) = 4 (3-6 Digital Input) • P3.10 (fixed freq, binary B1) = 0 • Who’s unit was running at 24hz as the preset speed? (B0 + B1 = 24hz FF3) • P6.2 (Primary Remote Speed Ref) = 4 (AI2) • P6.5 (Accel) = 5.0 • P6.6 (Decel) = 5.0 • P10.2 (FF1) = 20hz
Conveyor Application Extra Credit • The customer would like to count packages with an Eaton sensor. Packages (spaced approx 10 seconds apart) travel down a conveyor and past a sensor before they drop into a box. It takes the package 5 seconds to reach the box after it passes the sensor. Once the box has 10 packages the customer would like to run a second conveyor (powered by an XT starter, of course) for 3 seconds to transport the box to a shrink wrapper and a new box will be set in place. Cycle repeat…
Conveyor Application Extra Credit (Simplified) • VFD to count packages via sensor input • When counter = 10 • Activate various outputs • RO to activate XT coil (start second conveyor) • Time delay on 5 sec • Time delay off 3 sec • DO active to DI (reset counter) • Repeat!
Conveyor ApplicationExtra Credit Parameter Setup • Counter input signal: • P3.23 (Counter input signal) = 5 (digital input 5, or any input) • P3.29 (counter reference value)= 10 • Counter output • P5.1 (RO1 signal) = 20 (counter value 1 reached) • P5.2 (RO2 signal) = 0 (deactivated) • P5.3 (DO1 signal) = 20 (Use the DO to reset counter) • Counter reset input • P3.24 = 6 (digital input 6, could be fed directly from DO) • Time delays • P5.14 (RO1, on delay) = 5s • P5.15 (RO1, off delay) = 3s
