  3. what are the differences between epidemic vs pandemic

  4. Some important definitions

  5. AN EPIDEMIC is a disease that affects a large number of people within a community, population, or region. A PANDEMIC is an epidemic that’s spread over multiple countries or continents. ENDEMIC is something that belongs to a particular people or country. AN OUTBREAK is a greater-than- anticipated increase in the number of endemic cases. It can also be a single case in a new area. If it’s not quickly controlled, an outbreak can become an epidemic.

  6. pandemic infection -Pandemics generally cause much higher numbers of deaths than epidemics.

  7. Examples of pandemic through history

  8. epidemic Infections epidemic is a large and localized outbreak of a sickness or disease. rapid spread or increase in the occurrence of a disease.

  9. epidemic Infections - An epidemic is when an infectious or contagious illness, virus or disease is being diagnosed more often than normal. -signs and symptoms become longer than usual

  10. epidemic Infections - An epidemic could be confined to a school, neighborhood, state or even a country. An epidemic becomes a pandemic when it grows faster

  11. What about endemic? In epidemiology, an infection is said to be endemic ( "in dictionary, within" and demos "people") in a population when that infection is constantly maintained at a baseline level in a geographic area without external inputs.

  12. The Origin of COVID-19 COVID-19 is the official name for a new infectious respiratory disease. This disease has spread rapidly around the world since an outbreak was first identified in December 2019 in a city in central China called Wuhan. The outbreak of this illness has been so swift, widespread, and significant that it is now recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO) as a pandemic

  13. COVID-19 COVID-19 is caused by a new type of coronavirus called SARS-CoV-2. Coronaviruses are a common family of viruses that can infect both animals and humans. Researchers believe SARS-CoV-2 is a zoonotic virus, meaning it evolved in animals first, such as bats and pangolins (a type of anteater), before jumping to humans, possibly due to handling, trading, and consumption of wildlife in Wuhan's live animal markets

  14. The Origin of COVID-19 As of early April 2020, there are over 1.2 million confirmed cases of COVID-19. More than 65,300 people have died as a result of the illness, and over a quarter million people have recovered

  15. The Origin of COVID-19 . The pandemic is ongoing and actively developing, and countries around the world are taking drastic measures to slow the spread of SARS-CoV-2 and avoid overtaxing hospital systems.

  16. The Origin of COVID-19 This includes initiating social distancing policies, closing down schools and nonessential businesses, and encouraging people to wear cloth masks when going out in public
