  2. What is Nogales? • Can anyone guess what the word “Nogales” actually means? • Nogales is a Spanish word meaning “walnut trees”. • Why do you think our school was given this name? • It originated from the neighboring city of Walnut.

  3. What is the Nogales HS Alma Mater? Nogales High School Glory to our Alma Mater Reaching for the Sky Stands a shrine that lives forever Never shall she die. Sing her praises Dear Nogales Green and White our colors fly. True to thee we’ll be forever True to Nogales High!

  4. What are ESLR’s? ESLR is an acronym that we use at Nogales to define our students. It stands for Essential School-wide Learning Results. The ESLR’s are: Effective Communicators Critical Thinkers Performance Achievers Responsible Citizens

  5. Who are the Nogales Administrators? Principal: Dr. Nancy Padilla Learning Director: Mr. Mark Anderson Vice Principals: Mr. Doi Johnson Mr. Sam Oramas Mr. Ray Saenz

  6. Nogales Trivia • Which administrators were students at Nogales? • Mr. Saenz and Mr. Johnson both attended Nogales High School.

Nogales Counselors • At Nogales, we are lucky to have counselors that can help students with class academic and personal guidance. • Beth Denny (A – Garcia) • Aida Sandoval (EL students and Gard – Mc) • Kate Valdez (Me – Pa) • Vicki Dayton (Pe – Z) • Sara Hall (AVID and Honors) Dou you know who your counselor is?

Nogales Library • Our Nogales library is not only used for high school, students but is used as a community library where kids and adults of all ages can come and use its resources. • One way to complete some CAR hours is by tutoring elementary students with their homework on Mondays-Thursdays from 3-6 after school. See the librarian after school! • Library hours are Mon.-Thurs. from 3-7 and Sat. 10-2

  9. Sports and Clubs Nogales H.S. offers many sports programs, clubs, and organizations that students of all ages can join. Band and Color guard 

  10. Nogales Sports Nogales sports range from football to badminton to water polo to volleyball. There are different sports available in the fall, winter, and spring. Check with coaches to see when your sport of interest is starting try-outs.

  13. Academic Clubs • Nogales also offers lots of clubs that are academically enriched, like Academic Competition, IB/Questers, Sociedad Honararia Hispanica, and the National Honor Society.

  14. Nogales Art students NOGALES HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT, Nika Banzuela, WINS CONGRESSIONAL ART COMPETITION

  15. Nogales Physics Team • Nogales’ Physics team won the Solar Cup competition Lake Skinner near Temecula in 2008. This team was led by physics teacher, Mr. Chavez!

  17. School Pride • At Nogales, we take pride in our school, and we show it during the pep rallies. • As freshmen, you will be able to show off your 2012 pride by wearing your class color- Yellow!!

  18. STAR Achievers • Nogales H.S. has had a school carnival inviting all students that performed outstandingly on the state tests the last 3 years in a row!

  19. Freshman Orientation • Freshman Orientation was an awesome introduction to Nogales students led by Ms. Polidano and our outstanding Link Crew leaders!
