  1. Ocean House (Le’Chris Health Systems) Johnny Young (910) 251-3421 14 S 16th StWilmington, NC 28401-4924(910) 254-7124 http://www.lechris.com/

  2. Psychosocial Rehabilitation • For adults with severe and persistent mental illness. • Promotes skill development in 5 areas: • Education • Social Relationships • Community Living • Personal care • Prevocational Activities

  3. What I did onsite: • Held groups that I planned and organized myself. • Helped with client notes including adding time and filing them in client charts. • Assisted supervisor in organization of client charts. • Socialized with clients. • Monitored clients when other workers were busy doing notes. • Learned about billing, person centered plans, notes, diagnosis, symptoms, and treatment.

  4. What kind of person is good for this site? • Person needs to be very relaxed, friendly, non-discriminatory, open-minded, and not easily upset. • I would recommend for someone that is interested in Social Work or Counseling the severely mentally ill. • Most days at least one client will be having issues. Client issues include everything from falling in love with staff, thinking other people are talking about them, watching pornography on the computer, bringing alcohol on site, thinking they need to go to the hospital, fears of the police, and major coping problems. For some people this may be too much to handle so make sure you are prepared for this.
