  2. Project Brief • System and processes for Schools to collect, process, manage student unit choices • Students to register their unit choices online, using standard SITS e:Vision module • Approval of unit choices • Available to view for staff and students

  3. Project Aims • Improved student experience, through more consistent, earlier unit choice across Schools • Reduction of unit choice data entry into separate systems (SITS, Blackboard, departmental systems) • Improved unit choice data quality, less checking and correction for reports and exam timetables data

  4. Project Timescales • Pilot implementations for Physics (returning students) – April 2012 (opens 16 April, closes to students on 27 April) • Rollout to all Schools (returning students) – April 2013 (to be confirmed) • Rollout to all Schools (new students) – October 2013 (to be confirmed)

Project Position • The first pilot originally had two schools but is now just Physics • To mitigate the risk a possible pilot with Graduate School of Education is being explored • Project documentation is in place • Project Initiation document is complete • All specifications are complete and signed off • Implementation plan complete and in progress • User Acceptance testing complete (students have been involved)

  7. Project Issues • Variety of approval processes and programme structures • Data for unit selection rules – Tribal Review • Timing of Programme and Unit Approvals • Open Units • Joint Honours

  8. Project Governance • The Project Board meets approx every 6-8 weeks. Sponsored by Robert Partridge and includes Jayne Storey, UG Deans, FM and SM • The Working Group meets every 4-6 weeks chaired by Jessica Inglis with School reps from ML, Physics, EFIM, Engineering and Maths • A plan to ensure proper communication is in progress and will include updates through SITS User Group, the SSIO Newsletter, attendance at groups such as this and other committees
