First Year Experience • Goals of the BBC • To promote reflection and dialogue among first-year students and faculty/staff around a common academic activity • To introduce students to academic expectations of higher education • To develop conversation skills as students discuss and understand complex societal issues • To help foster community among our first-year students • To connect first-year students to faculty and staff through co-curricular programming • To create a platform for discussion of transitional issues common for first-year students • To provide students with the opportunity to hear from the author and engage with the author through Q&A
