Passengers with Reduced Mobility (PRM) • New EU Regulation (1107/2006) concerning the rights of disabled and persons with reduced mobility when travelling by air • Effective date: 26 July 2008 • Persons with reduced mobility are entitled to receive, free of charge, assistance in airports (on departure, arrival and during transit) and on board aircraft (e.g. the transport of wheelchairs and the carriage of guide dogs for the blind) • Offer opportunities in air travel to disabled and persons with reduced mobility that are equal to all other citizens • Offer the service to all people with permanent or temporary disability • EU airports instead of airlines will provide this assistance and fund the services by levying charges on airlines • The Member States will be required to lay down penalties for infringements and to set up independent bodies to deal with complaints
