  2. About this course: I use TPRS teaching method: Teaching Proficiency through Reading and Storytelling (also CI – Comprehensible Input) • Teaches ACQUISITION, not memorization • Compeling words = better recall • HIGH FREQUENCY!!!

  3. Password • Transition with music • Talk about what is going on in our lives • Create stories • Read novels • Learn about culture • Study a film “La gloire de mon père” (Rated G) • T’es Branché 1Atextbook What we do in class

  4. Class jobs in play • ONLY positive, respectful talk allowed • Practice staying in bounds- circumlocution • French first….checks for understanding are constant. • Read, write, speak and listen in French, with support • FUNNY, WARM, EXCEPTING, RESPECTFUL How all that looks

  5. 5% homework – on Canvas – practice (textbook vocabulary, articles, etc) • 10% quizzes • 15% Interpersonal Communication Score • 70% Summative Assessments • Given when the class is ready • Little to no studying required • County-wide mid-term and final exam (HS credit) • LAST YEAR – all students had an ending grade of A or B (more As than Bs) GRADES

  6. When a student is absent, the student should: • Check Canvas • Remind me in class of his/her absence. • Available during 7th grade lunch and after school for making up work. Absences
