  3. Parts Status

  4. We are not always holding our own with provision of motor boxes and sensors to sites. FGS mini-NED below targets. NEDM below targets. In the last quarter we lacked replacement parts for approximately 8 site days. Mini-NED weekly inventory. News items

  5. Starting in Fall 2003 we were pairing motor boxes to sensors when effecting repairs due to the lack of failure resolution. • Working with our two vendors we THINK we have discovered that a transistor responsible for the sensitivity of the motor unit was being replaced with one with incorrect low gain characteristics. PN4122 seems to be helping. • We are working on tapering this back to individual repairs now. The story is still out. News items

  6. New vendor RIES LABS evaluated components and repair histories and began making repairs in 4q03. To date they have repaired ~30 each boxes and sensors. • SUMMARY- RIES LABS is competitive in terms of cost and repair turnaround time. Advanced in context of creative perspective on the repair and retrofit of the collector components. • Two special projects. News items

  7. Two special projects. • WHY?! News items

  8. Two special projects. • We will live with the current NADP collector design for 5 years. News items

  13. RIES Sensor heater and thermistor reconfiguration • Cost estimates coming • My goal is to build 5 and test/implement News items

  14. RIES Motor box circuit board News items

  15. RIES Motor box circuit board News items

  16. RIES Motor box circuit board • Microprocessor controller • Less “knob and tube” wiring (3 vs. 9 connections at power bus) • More efficient repair • Equal sensitivity • Cost estimates coming News items

  17. The monies allocated from the Executive Committee to start another round of hybrid clock rebuilds has been expended. • Outside machining • 40 gear plates modified so far • Costs decreasing • Goal was to do 50 clocks • We have 10 total completed now with 30 more in the assembly line. • Would like to move to external battery pack. News items

  18. Repeat failures at sites seem to indicate that AC power systems are fatiguing. Surge protector duplex outlets (at $50 each) purchased to trial at 5 sites. No results. • The electro-magnetic solenoids we use to repair and manufacture event recorders are no longer being made to our specifications. Retro-fit with radio-controlled modeling components failed. News items

  19. NED IS UNDER FUNDED Complaints
