  3. Current services Still images from the Digital Images for Education project – replace the original Getty Images content 17 film and sound collections 3000 hours of news from ITN/Reuters archives, from1910 - 2007

  4. New service, launching Jan 2011 • To include the content of all current EDINA multimedia services, • plus searching the service will return results from external collections Mediahub – a multimedia platform

  5. Mediahub search results Mediahub searches and returns results for : • Digital Images for Education content: http://imagesforeducation.org.uk/ • 17 Film & Sound Online collections • ITN/Reuters archives • Additional collections, including: • Open collections • Restricted access collections

  7. Digital Images for Education project JISC project to provide education community with high-resolution images for download – procurement commenced January 2009. Independent team of evaluators selected: 8 still image collections - 56,000 still images 3 moving image collections – 500 hours of film Covering 25 years of UK history Still images currently in Education Image Gallery All content will available to download from Mediahub

  12. Imperial War Museum: War posters • 3 collections of still images • Art of First World War, Art of Second World War. All main figures of British art in 20C represented • Proclamations – official instructions and statements at home and abroad

  14. North Highland College • The Johnston Collection, dating from 1840 - 1979. The Johnston family were pioneers in photography; lived and worked in Caithness and Sutherland. • Subject matter was Highland life – politics, fishing industry, portraiture

  26. How does subscribing work? 3 subscription options: 1. NFO content and the search results from open and restricted external content – no charge 2. All Mediahub content and the search results from open and restricted external content – Subscription charge 3. All Mediahub content, the search results from open and restricted external content PLUS the medical films – Subscription charge

  27. How does this affect me? Already subscribing to NFO? • EDINA will automatically migrate you to option 1, i.e. NFO plus search results. • If you choose, you can pay a pro-rata subscription fee to upgrade to option 2 or 3. http://mediahub.blogs.edina.ac.uk/2010/09/08/mediahub-subscription/

  28. How does this affect me? Already subscribing to EIG? • Your institution has paid the subscription fee for 2010-11. • EDINA will automatically migrate you to option 2, i.e. DIE, NFO, FSOL plus search results.

  29. How does this affect me? Already subscribing to FSOL? • No subscription fee paid for 2010-11. • No automatic migration carried out by EDINA • If you choose, you can pay a pro-rata subscription fee to upgrade to option 2 or 3
