  3. CAN YOU TRANSLATE THIS? This is how today’s student communicates. This could cause a language barrier between generations and learning. OMG, I jst 8 A1 <) evr. I cUd e@ Ø <) 4ever ! Oh my goodness, I just ate the best pizza ever. I could eat nothing but pizza forever!

  4. Our students have changed radically. Today’s students are no longer the people our educational system was designed to teach. (Prensky, 2001) Maybe it’s time our teaching matched our audience?

  5. Today’s students are part of the Net Generation (those born after 1980). Some interesting tidbits of information about these learners: Group and Team Problem Solving Ambitious Demand Challenges Self-Confidence FAST PACED Used to being “heard” Digitally Savvy High Tech Like Structure Need for recognition What current research states? Expect more feedback Teamwork Oriented Constant Stimulation (HEALY, 2010)

  6. Impact on the Student

  7. On average, computer-based Learners scored higher on achievement tests than traditional students (Schacter, 1999) Increase in student engagement and excitement about various subject matters. Students that use computer-based education learn more in less time.
