  6. Shared principlesFor working with a client/student and his/her network • Respect for the client and client system: their needs (abilities and disabilities) and wishes will be heard and taken seriously • Connect to the personal power of client and system, activate their power for realising goals • Development centered: the support of the client/student and system aims at functioning in every day life • Aims at in depended functioning of the client and system • Cooperation on a common agenda (clear goals). • Work step by step on concrete and workable goals • In general: clients/students and their network learn more if they hear about their successes, instead of their failures.

  7. General active factors • Affiliation to the motivation of the client • Good fit of the problem and request for help on the one hand, and the specific content of the intervention • Good structuring of the intervention (clear objective, planning and phasing) • Program integrity • Professionalism of the practitioner • Good quality of the relationship between client and practitioner

  8. learning by discovery under guidance” is a model for people with intellectual disabilities to increase their self-supportiveness and self-reliance in daily life: at home, at work and in their spare time.

  9. Opinion of Visio“learning by discovery under guidance” • Visio assumes that people with intellectual disabilities by training can enlarge their insights in own possibilities and limitations. • The main objective of sphere Wat bedoel je hiermee?? is that the problems that people with intellectual disabilities have with the fit of learned skills, largely arise from a lack of learning experiences. • Many clients have never learned how to think (some even unlearned thinking!) They should learn how to think again!

  10. The paper towerWaarom doe je die op deze plek? Wat later lijkt logischer.

  11. In the workfield of Visio the question raised, is it possible to do things different?Wat wil je anders gaan doen (zo is t te algemeen) Je hebt t nog niet over aangeleerde afhankelijkheid gehad, dat maakt de noodzaak om iets anders te doen duidelijker

  12. When you want someone to think more, give him compliments when he’s thinking! • GOOD THINKING! • THINK FOR YOURSELF! • THINK IN SOLUTIONS!

  13. Filmshots that you sent usWhat do you see…………..?

  14. Write on the flap your answers to the questions below; • From what vision does your organization work? • Is it possible to work from the chosen vision in practice? • What can be threats? • Where do you see possibilities? Als je de 3e en 4e omdraait is het wat stimulerender

  15. Why does Visio work in the way they do • Visio wants to look more and more into the possibilities of the person and learn them to solve problems. • We have noticed that there was Learned helplessness in many situations

  16. Concept learned helplessness • The client is not encouraged to explore. He doesn’t have to think and experience no succes. • If you're not doing anything, you can’t make mistakes either. • So you sit and wait.. • And you never have to wait long (in Holland), because there are lots of “Guardian Angels”

  17. The Elevator

  18. Different ways to learn

  19. We want clients to explore and think more and more. That way they can empower themselves. • How does this work in practice?

  20. This works with severely mentally handicapped people as well. • Working from the vision is possible on all levels! • Working with interviews can be used with people who can talk. - Make a plan - Follow it and adjust if necessary! - Look back

  21. Qustions?
