WIBCA Basketball Showcase History & Philosophy The WIBCA (Washington Interscholastic Basketball Coaches Association) State Basketball Showcase originated in 2003 and was first held in Cheney, Washington at Eastern Washington University. The following two years the event was moved to Spokane’s Lewis & Clark High School. In 2006 the showcase moved west of the mountains to Bellevue College. This two day state sanctioned basketball tournament has flourished as it provides 160 student athletes an opportunity to display their talent and skills to prospective college coaches in hope of continuing their playing careers at the collegiate level. Positive feedback from coaches and players is the norm for this spring venue. Along with high school and college coaches, our support staff, many parents and fans, we look forward to this yearly event which provides a fantastic and exciting experience for these young men.
Sponsorship Levels On behalf of the WIBCA (Washington Interscholastic Basketball Coaches Association) Basketball Showcase, we would like to ask you to consider being a sponsor of this important event. Corporate Sponsor – ($5,000) – includes your business name on all print material including flyers, programs, schedules, etc. A 3/4 page ad in our General Admission program and display your banner in the gym. • Official Sponsor – ($2,500) - display your banner at the event and half page ad in our General Admission program. Event Sponsor – ($1,000) – half page ad & banner in our General Admission program. Game Sponsor – ($500) – quarter page ad in our General Admission program. Player Sponsor – ($250) – business card ad in our General Admission program.
Scholarship On behalf of the WIBCA annual state basketball showcase we are offering a $1,000.00 scholarship to all senior participants of this event. Each senior player has the opportunity to email a typed written document of a telling story sharing their experience of "giving back" to their community, over coming an adverse life situation or helping others in need. Please submit your personal story to showcase director Tim Gaebe at gaebe@comcast.net. Deadline is Friday April 26, 2019. The chosen scholarship recipient will be announced before the championship game on May .
Dribble-Shoot-Swish DRIBBLE-SHOOT-SWISH..."live life with passion", is a segment of our event where we will pick two 10-12 year old fans from the crowd, one boy and one girl, to DRIBBLE-SHOOT-SWISH for $100.00!!! The chosen participants will have the opportunity to keep the $100.00 or give it to a charity or cause of their choice. In doing the latter, when the participant sends evidence of where the $100.00 went we will send them a check for $150.00. The objective is to enlighten young kids’ thinking about "giving back" and helping people who may be facing an unfortunate circumstance. The following website is an example of someone who “gave back”. http://www.cbsnews.com/news/ohio-8-year-old-turns-20-into-priceless-gift
Player Testimonials The WIBCA showcase was a great experience. Having the opportunity to be coached by the best and play alongside great players made the experience worthwhile. For players who are unsure where they will be playing college basketball in the future, this showcase is extremely helpful in being recognized by different colleges around the Pacific Northwest area. I encourage all high school basketball players interested in the next level to play and compete in this showcase! Tanner Groves Shadle Park/EWU Attending the WIBCA showcase was a great experience and most of all FUN! I've had colleges calling every week talking about seeing me play at the Showcase. Mr. Watts (Donald) himself was also there! Having ranked players there to compete against was the best part and also making new friends. I highly recommend going to the Showcase if you can. Coach Testimonials The WIBCA Showcase was well organized and provided a terrific opportunity to see players from all over the state of Washington in one location! Here at Whitworth we take great pride in recruiting the best players in the state – what a great way to see them compete against each other! I can’t wait to come back next year. Matt Logie Head Coach Whitworth University The WIBCA Basketball Showcase is a great event for our coaching staff. We look forward to it every year. Each spring we are able to identify a number of potential recruits at this event. Ryan Looney Head Coach Point Loma Nazarene
CoachTestimonials I recommend this two day event to all the college coaches I come across. Each of the past 9 years I have had 2 or more players come to Everett CC from the Showcase. It is a great opportunity for me to see so many very talented players in a short time period. I also sponsor the event, and I feel it is money well spent. Thank you for all your work and I will see you again next year. Larry Walker Former Head Coach, Athletic Director Everett Community College The WIBCA Showcase held each May in Bellevue is one of the best opportunities for college coaches to preview and keep abreast of up and coming talent. The handout given to college coaches with contact information is invaluable for getting in touch with future prospects. Bill Mendelson Head CoachPierce College
Coach Testimonials "I have attended the WIBCA Showcase several times and have found it beneficial for our recruiting needs. This event provides an opportunity to watch a young man play in person, rather than trying to evaluate him on tape. It is especially valuable for small colleges as there have been players who have slipped through cracks during their high school season, but have stood out at this Showcase, and consequently landed a spot on a roster."Thanks for all you do for kids.John Van Dyke Head Coach Northwest University
