  2. Genres in the Classic Era (classifications of pieces) • Symphony (4 mvts) - orchestra • Concerto (3 mvts) – orchestra w/ solo • String Quartet (4 mvts) – 2 vln, vla, cello • Sonata (3 or 4 mvts) – 1-2 instruments • Chamber Music – for small ensembles • Opera • Other?
