  2. Welcome! • The goal of TridiumTalk is to share with the Niagara community timely content on sales, products and technical topics.  Each session will last between 45-60 minutes and will be a mix of presentation, demonstrations and Q&A. • This session and past sessions will be posted on our community web site at www.Niagara-Central.com (more details to come) • The content presented here is representative of Tridium’s Niagara technology and products in general, please contact your channel partner for specific details and pricing. • As a courtesy to others in the conference, please place your phone on mute until the Q&A portion of the program

  3. Niagara 3.2 Key Features • Virtual Points • LON Enhancements • BACnet Enhancements • Alarm Service Enhancements • History Exporting • Reporting Service • Miscellaneous Features • New Drivers for AX • Windows Vista Update • AX Alarm Portal • Kiosk Service

  4. Virtual Points • Ability to "address" data from an external device or fieldbus without persistently mapping it into the station database as proxy points. • Provides new driver APIs for ords, caching, and synchronization libraries to use by developers • New tool in your toolbox to create applications and graphics with less memory and resources. • First been applied to BACnet in Release 3.2. • Added to other drivers in the future • Improve a JACE or Supervisor’s ability to support greater numbers of devices. • Virtual points are read-only and are transient, meaning they cannot be used for control logic, histories or alarming and do not include right click command functionality.

  5. Bacnet Device Virtual Points

  6. Lon Enhancements • Support for Lonworks in 3.2 for extended network management messages as defined in CEA-709.1-B. • Lon over IP driver as a router from the JACE per CEA-852.  • Connect Lon devices over Ethernet to a Lon Router without a direct Lon port connection on a JACE.  • More beta sites wanted   • Support for new SNVT and SCPT types that were defined in LonMark 13.00 standard resource files. • Drag and drop Lon LMNL files into the station tree from the palette and create a dynamic device object with the properties for the characterized devices.

  7. BACnet Enhancements • Support for Backup and Restore (DM-BR-B-BIBB) • Support for the virtual points feature   • Pursuing BTL certification of the Niagara Framework for the B-BC category (Building Controller).  • We intend to submit the JACE in August for this testing

  8. Alarm Service Enhancements • Alarm Escalation • “Escalating” an alarm that has not been acknowledged in a specified period of time.  • The alarm notification object now has three alarm escalation outputs with selectable delay timers. • New Alarm Db View, similar to Alarm Db Maintenance View but without the ability to delete records. • New Niagara Network alarm routing options.

  9. Alarm Escalation • Each Alarm Class has three escalation levels with separate delay timers and enable properties. • The escalation levels are topics which can be linked to alarm recipients in the wiresheet.

  10. Niagara Network Alarm Routing • Use Existing – routes alarms using same alarm classes configured in subordinate station. • Prepend – routes alarms using same alarm classes configured in subordinate station, but prepends name. • Append – routes alarms using same alarm classes configured in subordinate station, but appends name. • Replace – routes all alarms from subordinate station regardless of configured alarm classes in subordinate station to a single selected alarm class in the supervisor station.

  11. History Exporting To SQL • Exporting of multiple histories to a single table instead of to separate ones • Setting Export Mode to ‘By History Type’ groups all exported histories of the same type into a single table. • Setting Export Mode to ‘By History Id’ creates a separate table for each history export descriptor.

  12. Report Service • Improve the way you create data-driven reports. • This feature provides better user support to harness the power of BQL (Baja Query Language) and new tools for creating information targeted to the printed page. • Support for scheduling and routing reports - such as emailing a PDF file at the end of every week.  • common header and footer to create standard looking reports. • New Report palette contains the reportservice and components for processingreports, also new widgets for creating PxReport Graphics.

  13. Report Service Export Source • Export Source is added to the wiresheet view of the Report Service and linked to a recipient. • The Export Source property sheet is used to configure when the report is processed.

  14. Report Service Component Grid • Component Grid is added to the wiresheet view of the Report Service. • Define the template row first. • Define columns and rows. • Component Grid has two presentation views: Grid Table and Grid Label Pane

  15. Report Service Component Grid • Click and drag components from the nav sidebar to create columns and rows. • Column bindings are relativized, meaning the ord is formatted as ‘slot:<pointName>’. • Edit the text animation for each column (i.e. %out.value%).

  16. Grid Table and Label Pane

  17. Report widgets for Px Pages • New file type added to the newFiles.bog file • Report Pane is used to configure whether page numbers, date/timestamps and logos are included in the generated report. • Section Headers are used to insert major headings in the report. • Add Component Grid using workbench view directly to the Report Pane. • Add Bound Tables to the Report Pane to perform BQL Queries without using the Component Grid object.

  18. Report Px Example

  19. Miscellaneous Features • History Chart View right mouse click export function. • User name logged for fox connection in log history. • ‘Logout’ link added to basic and default Hx profiles. • Option to disable widget binding updating in the Px Editor mode. • Use custom favicon in the URL field of browser. • Station save failure alarm. • RAM disk low warning alarm. • File Descriptors low warning alarm

  20. New Drivers The “Getting Started” Guides for these are available on Niagara Central. • Flex Serial Driver - similar to the configurable driver in R2. Enable “non-programmers” to create simple serial drivers on their own for “one-off” protocol devices • AndoverAC-256 (Infinity and Continuum Soon) - Driver for Andover AC-256 via its serial port similar to the functionality in R2.  • American Automatrix PHP and PUP - Two drivers for American Automatrix products are now also available in AX for both the Public Unitary Protocol and the Public Host Protocol based devices from this company. • oBIX Driver Update - The oBIX driver is coming and will serve as the integration driver between R2 and AX, but it still requires additional testing before release.  • expect its release 2nd QTR • Simple Message Service (SMS) - Driver is used for sending text messages to mobile phones. • allows retransmitting alarm information and sending general text messages over a serially connected GPS or GPRS Modem.  • The SMS driver has been tested with Siemens MC35 GSM modem. • Technically the driver should work with any GSM modem providing the GSM standard has been implemented properly by the manufacturer.

  21. Windows Vista • With Release 3.2 (only), this release will run on Windows Vista with the three following exceptions: • Modems are not supported under Vista and cannot be used to answer calls from JACEs for alarms and history archives. • The OPC Client will not run under Vista • The Tunneling service will not start automatically upon booting a machine with Vista .  It can be started manually, but please check to make sure the app you wish to tunnel is Vista compatible before switching to Vista . • Please watch for updates

  22. Ax Alarm Portal • “stand alone” alarm portal similar to what was offered in R2.  • AX Alarm Portal which will be available June 1.  • This is a “profiled” copy of the Workbench which provides only the Alarm console view and is suitable for those desiring to offer a way to only monitor alarms for users such as guards and night operators, etc.  • low cost product provides the ability to monitor specified notification classes from a “station” (JACE or Supervisor) • allows viewing of the alarms, messages, and allows acknowledgment.  • Each copy is separately licensed and is intended to be installed on PCs for the purpose of Alarm Monitoring.

  23. Alarm Portal Example

  24. Kiosk Service • Designed to start user interface in full screen ‘Kiosk’ mode. • Customize splash screen. • Enable auto login and auto logoff if required. • Touch screen support including built-in on screen keyboard activated by field editors and right mouse click icon.
