College Application Trends State of College Admissions Report 2013 (NACAC) • The high school transcript is the most important variable in the admissions process • Students’ grades and the academic rigor of their course loads weigh more heavily in decisions to admit than standardized test scores, high school class rank, or demonstrated interest in attending. • The top factors in the admission decision were: • Student’s High School Record • Strength of curriculum – academic rigor • Standardized admission test scores • Extracurricular involvement
Transcript • Colleges will look at the types of courses, the level and grades received • Senior year classes and grades are important! Incorporate 4 Academic units/Carnegie units into your schedule • Colleges will look for improvement and/or consistency
Advanced Course Enrollment Form • An “ACE” form must be used for schedule variations: • To double in a math or science course • To request review for qualifying for an advanced course • The “ACE” form is currently available on the EBHS Counseling Department webpage, under “Scheduling” • All “ACE” forms must be submitted by April 26, 2019 to be considered for a schedule variation • Students may complete a maximum of two ACE forms
Summer Advancement Form • To advance in a course over the summer, you must request approval from the appropriate department chair through the Summer Advancement form. • The only courses available for advancement are: ~ Geo w/Trig H ~ Chemistry H ~ Physics H • The Summer Advancement form is currently available on the EBHS Counseling Department webpage, under “Scheduling” • All Summer Advancement Forms must be submitted by April 26, 2019 to be considered for summer advancement.
Matrix for Honors Placement Please review the honors matrix for each individual course to determine eligibility for honors level placement. All information can be found in the course guide on ebnet.org under Scheduling. Remember: to request review for advanced level course placement, you must complete an ACE form! Due April 26, 2019
Timeline - Juniors • Winter/Spring – 2018-2019 • Register for and take SAT (collegeboard.org)/ACT (act.org) • Counselors will be meeting with juniors for interviews and scheduling • Online course requests for senior year – completed by: February 11, 2019 • Use Naviance for College/Career Interest searches • Ask ONLY 2 teachers for letters of recommendation (in person; find out what they require) by May 31st, 2019 • Complete brag sheet by May 31st, 2019 • Visit colleges!
Timeline (continued) • Summer – 2019 • Register on Common Application over the summer (commonapp.org). Begin filling out the application (check website for updated application) • Narrow down college interest list • Work on essays • Visit colleges! • Fall – 2019 • Attend Senior Parent Night in September • School counselors will meet with seniors about application process • Complete and submit applications

Testing Information • Students may take the ACT, SAT, and SAT II Subject tests more than once • It is the student’s responsibility to request official test scores from ACT/SAT
NCAA - Athletics Prospective Division I & II student athletes must register no later than June of their junior year www.eligibilitycenter.org • Student Athletes Enrolling in College August 2020: • Minimum Requirements for Division I [Full Qualifier] • 2.3 GPA in NCAA core courses (www.2point3.org) • 980 SAT (Reading & Math) • 75 ACT (sum score) • 16 Academic/Carnegie units, 10 prior to 7th semester • Minimum Requirements for Division II [Full Qualifier] • 2.2 GPA in NCAA core courses • 920 SAT (Reading & Math) • 70 ACT (sum score) • 16 Academic/Carnegie units
